Description
Shanwell is a farmhouse dating probably from the early 19th century, with an outhouse dated 1813. It is a two-storey, three-window structure built of rubble, with droved dressings. The roof is slated, and relieving arches are visible above the ground-floor windows. A contemporary porch features a cavetto cornice. The gables are harled, and there is a single-storey back wing that is also harled. A Victorian-era addition extends from the rear. Scott’s History of Tayport provides further details (p17).
