Description
The Coal Store and Stable Block at Keeper's Cottage on the Isle of May was built around 1816 and features a castle-style design that reflects its lighthouse context. Constructed from whin rubble with ashlar dressings and long and short quoins, this single-storey rectangular building has broad, clasping angle projections that are topped with corbelled and castellated parapets. The doors are located in the wider projections and centrally on the long sides, with narrow slits for ventilation. The building has a parapet and a flat roof.
