Description
Balmerino Parish Church is a small, broad-eaved rectangular building constructed from rubble, which opened on November 17, 1811. It features a gothic spired bellcote at the west gable. Originally, the church had a horseshoe gallery and a pulpit on the south wall, which originally included two large windows flanked by two doors with windows above. This has since been altered to include four windows. The church was remodeled by C. and L. Ower between 1883 and 1884, replacing the horseshoe gallery with a west gallery, adding a west window and door, and remodeling and stuccoing the east gable. Four windows were also inserted in the north wall to match those on the south wall. The original work features droved dressings, while the later work has stuccoed dressings. The hall was added by C. and L. Ower in 1887. The church was re-roofed and re-ceiled in 1959.
