Description

11 Wemyssfield is a classical house dating from around 1830, now converted to offices. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with piend and platform roofs. The building features polished ashlar stone with dressed long and short quoins, and neatly coursed rubble on the sides and rear. There is a ground floor cill course and a dividing course, along with a deep eaves cornice. The windows are architraved, with plain aprons on those of the first floor.

On the west elevation facing Wemyssfield, the central bay has steps leading up to a doorpiece supported by Ionic columns, topped with a cornice and block pediment. The deep-set panelled timber door has a plate glass fanlight above it, flanked by windows in the adjacent bays, with regular fenestration on the first floor.

The south elevation has two windows on each floor in the bays to the left of the centre. The central bay is slightly lower and recessed, featuring a window on each floor, while the right bay is also lower and has a window on each floor, both of these lower bays are raised from single storey.

The north elevation, facing St Brycedale Avenue, has a window in the centre at ground level with a later door to the left, and three windows on the first floor. The east elevation is asymmetrical, with lean-to extensions in the re-entrant angle to the right.

The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, featuring a 12-pane glazing pattern, with some plate glass on the side elevations. The roof is covered in grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with polygonal cans.

Inside, there are some decorative cornices and decorative cast-iron balusters with a timber handrail. The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls.
