Description
The Steading and Horse-Gang at Benarty House, built around 1840, is a quadrangular structure featuring a circular horse mill on the north side. The low, two-storey front block has a central section that is advanced and pedimented, complete with a pend arch and a doocot in the pediment. There is one window on either side of this central feature. The ends of the front block have blind pediments and projections, topped with a piended roof.
Flanking the front block are single-storey ranges to the north and south, along with a small, two-storey detached range to the east. The building is constructed from rough courses with limestone dressings and margins, and it includes a 1632 lintel that has been inserted in the steading in the court area.
