Description
The Bank of Scotland, located at 42-46 Court Street in Haddington, was built in 1802-1803 for Henry Davidson. The building features a symmetrical classical design, attributed to James Burn, and consists of two storeys with three windows. It has flanking single-storey side pavilions, constructed of ashlar stone with a slated, hipped roof. The entrance boasts an arched and pilastered doorpiece, while the ground floor windows are segmentally arched tripartites. Decorative elements include urns, sphinxes, and relief panels at the blocking course. Additionally, there is a two-storey harled and slated western extension. The entrance gates are adorned with wrought iron overthrow lampholders.
