Description
The granary and cartshed at Byres Steading dates from the earlier to mid 19th century. It features a 5-bay cartshed with a granary above, constructed from random rubble with roughly squared sandstone quoins and ashlar dressings that have chamfered reveals at the ground level. The south elevation has five segmental-arched openings for the cartshed, which are complemented by five boarded openings for the granary. On the north elevation, there is a stone stairway leading to a granary door at the eastern end, along with four boarded granary openings. The building is topped with a piended roof covered in red pantiles.
