Description

30 Victoria Street and 28 Dunbar, designed by Kininimonth and Spence in 1935, are a group of ten symmetrical, paired, terraced two-storey council houses that step down towards the harbour. The houses feature painted brick above a deep rubble base course and a concrete cill course at ground level. Each pair has a semi-circular arch with paired multi-paned entrance doors set in a recess at the center, framed by black pantiles at the ends. The east wall is abutted to the rear of later houses.

On the south (principal) elevation, there are tripartite windows with fixed horizontally glazed central lights flanked by bays at the ground floor, and bipartite windows above set close to the eaves. Specifically, numbers 28 and 30 have four-light and three-light windows, respectively.

The north (rear) elevations feature low painted brick forestairs with concrete risers leading to doors in the center bays. Each floor has a bipartite window in the outer bay, with a single window at the first floor in the center bays. The houses have original casement windows with either three or four-pane glazing patterns, a simple eaves course, and sweeping eaves. The roofs are covered with cement pantiles, and there are harled gable stacks with concrete coping and circular cans. Additionally, there are brick outhouses with corrugated iron roofs and garden walls with concrete coping at the rear.
