East Cottage, Pitcox Cottages, Pitcox

East Central Cottage, located at Pitcox Cottages in Pitcox, was built in 1836 and consists of a single-storey row of four, three-bay cottar houses from the Improvement period. The cottages feature sympathetic piend-roofed rear additions that were made around 1890. They are constructed from red sandstone rubble, accented with stugged and droved ashlar dressings.

On the south elevation, each cottage is symmetrical, with a doorway flanked by almost square windows. The rubble below the cills is made from larger blocks. The roofs are covered with pantiles, and there is a grey slate easing course.

The north elevation includes piend-roofed extensions for each cottage, each with two windows, with the right window being narrower. This elevation also features pantiles and a red tile easing course.

The east and west elevations are mostly blank, with small four-pane windows located at the re-entrant angles on the rear. The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The cottages have mutual gable and end stacks made of ashlar.
