Cottage, Halls Farm

Halls Farm consists of five single-storey farm cottages built around 1860, arranged in a U-shape open to the west. The cottages are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and feature timber mullions in their bipartite windows, which were added later.

The north and east blocks each have six bays. The windows are widely grouped at the center, flanking advanced gabled porches that have chamfered arrises around the door surrounds. There are single windows in the outer bays.

The south block also has six bays, with a porch similar to those on the north and east blocks located in the penultimate bay to the right. The remaining bays have windows.

At the rear, there are late 19th-century brick lean-to additions, with piend-roofed brick extensions on the west ends of both the north and south wings. The south wing has lost its porch on the left side, which has been blocked and turned into a window.

The cottages feature a horizontal-pane glazing pattern and slate roofs, with coped gable ends and shared gable stacks. The porches have simple timber barge boarding.
