7 Little Spott Cottages, Little Spott

6 Little Spott Cottages, built around 1870, is a symmetrical row of six single-storey and attic farm cottages. The cottages are constructed from squared and snecked red sandstone, featuring cream ashlar dressings, chamfered arrises at the openings, and hoodmoulds above the windows.

On the north elevation, there is a central pend flanked by doorways, with eaves that extend over three bays in a porch form. This area is enhanced with decorative timber brackets, columns, bargeboarding, and balustrades. Each side has two bays with bipartite windows at ground level and gabled attic dormers above. The penultimate bays on each side have paired porches, detailed similarly, with doorways behind them. The outer bays also feature bipartite windows at ground level and gabled attic dormers.

The south elevation is largely blank, with later brick porch additions, and there is a further modern addition at No 2. The windows are fitted with plate glass and 4-pane glazing patterns in sash and case style, with three Velux replacement windows at No 2. The doors have small-pane upper panels and plate glass fanlights. The roofs are covered with red fish-scale tiles, complemented by decorative terracotta ridge tiles and finials. The cottages also feature decorative timber bargeboards and eaves brackets, along with mutual gable and gable end stacks.
