Description

The Horse Engine House at Holmes House dates from around 1830 and is a circular structure located next to a former threshing barn, which has been truncated. It features a conical roof covered in grey slate, topped with a lead finial. As of 2003, the building is in poor condition. The exterior includes a large opening for horses and two smaller window openings, constructed from pink sandstone rubble with dressed margins.

Inside, the building is currently used as a wood store. It has radiating timber roof supports and a central timber pole reaching to the apex, with some machinery still remaining.
