Description

Stair House is a picturesque example of a 17th century Scottish country house. Originally designed in an L shape, it features a round tower at the northwest corner and a square tower at the diagonally opposite corner. The main body of the house includes the typical vaulted ground floor, with a hall and other rooms on the first and second floors. Over time, various additions have been made to this central block. One addition extends to the east and includes a round tower at the northeast corner, while another addition extends to the south and features a lower, yet very charming, round tower at the southwest corner. Together, these structures create a very pleasing composition.
