13 North Ellen Street, Dundee

13 North Ellen Street in Dundee is a four-storey, five-bay tenement building designed by John Bruce in 1871. The structure features grotesque animal and human mask decorations around its windows and is constructed from coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings.

On the ground floor, the left section originally had a double shop front that has been altered to a flat, with paired doors changed to windows and shop windows reduced to a domestic size, topped with a cornice. The right section includes a central pend between former doors to ground floor flats, which have now been altered to windows, with plain windows on either side.

The upper floors consist of a five-window arrangement, with a blind window over the pend. Each window margin features different grotesque animal and human masks at their mid-points, as well as at all corbels.

The rear of the building has been altered from platties to an internal stair. The roof is slate with ridge stacks.
