Description
11 Westfield Place, also known as Westfield Cottage, is a single-storey cottage designed by David Logan in 1818. The building has an unusual plan, with harled walls accentuated by ashlar margins. The south elevation is asymmetrical, featuring two projecting bays with broad eaves. The left bay has a canted window, and to its right is a single window with an apron. A matching single window is situated closer to the centre of the elevation. The main entrance is set back towards the east, with a circa 1900 lean-to porch made of glass, positioned in the re-entrant angle and alongside a window. A service wing extends to the west. The roof is slate, with a piended form and a small swept dormer window above the entrance. Two tall, lozenge-plan stacks were originally present on the south elevation, though two have recently been removed. The interior features a central arched hall, topped by a cupola, and exhibiting fine plasterwork. A document from 7 May 1819, reference DA, relates to the building.
