Description
Myrton Chapel is a small former chapel built before 1848, which is connected to an old stable block. The chapel features a slightly lower gabled jamb and is attached at the center to the west elevation of the rectangular stable block. It is constructed of rubble with red sandstone ashlar dressings, droved chamfered margins, crowsteps, and skewputts. The roof is covered with slightly graded grey slates and has a red sandstone ridge, extending below the eaves line of the stable block.
On the west elevation, there is a pointed-arched window that is blinded with rubble, and an ashlar cross is set forward in the gable head. At the apex, there is a birdcage bellcote, although it does not contain a bell. The north return features another pointed-arched window, which is partly blinded with rubble and has Y-traceried glazing at the apex. The south return is blank.
Inside, there are remains of a stable stall, and the ceiling has been replaced with modern plasterboard.
