Description
This is a mid-18th century house, originally a three-bay, two-storey building, extended to the east in the early 19th century with two full-height bays. A later 18th century axial stack is also present. A stable adjoins the northwest angle, creating an L-shaped layout.
The original house is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, all painted, with contrasting chamfered margins. The south elevation features an open central porch with brick flanks, and a pedimented gable supported on two skewputts, which are thought to have been taken from the main roof. Sash windows with 12-pane glazing are found throughout. Straight skews, end stacks, and a slate roof are also original features.
The north elevation is asymmetrical, with a brick lean-to kitchen addition positioned off-centre. This addition is flanked by small original windows, with a single window above.
The stable is built with painted rubble and ashlar dressings, with a north gable that has been rebuilt in brick. It features an east-facing door and timber stalls.
A later addition to the east (numbered 2) has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. This section is harled with ashlar margins. The south elevation includes two regular bays and a modern low lean-to on the right, and features louvred or sash and case windows. The north elevation has two windowed bays, a door to the left, and a large modern window on the right. All roofs are slated.
