Castledykes View, Glencaple Road, Dumfries

The building consists of garden walls, gate piers, and a cottage located at Castledykes View on Glencaple Road in Dumfries, dating from around 1800. The cottage is a single-storey and attic structure with three bays and a basement at the rear. There is a small dry bridge to the north, which is likely from the same period.

The cottage features whitewashed rubble walls with contrasting painted ashlar margins. It has a central recessed panelled door on the east side, complete with a fanlight, and small-paned sash windows throughout. The roof has straight skews and end stacks, covered with graded slates. There are two dormers on the west side and three barred basement windows. A modern addition has been made to the north gable. The cottage is enclosed by rubble-built garden walls, and there are two rusticated ashlar square gate piers at the northeast corner.

The bridge is a short span with a single segmental arch made of brick, supported by rubble abutments, spanning over a cobbled loaning. It features low ashlar coping and plain, slender iron railings.
