Description
The South African War Memorial, located at North Bridge in Edinburgh, was designed by engineers Blyth and Westland with architectural details by Robert Morham, and it was built between 1894 and 1897. The bridge features three wide spans, each supported by six arched iron girders resting on masonry piers. Decorative cast-iron arcading adorns the spandrels, which are situated beneath a consoled and festooned entablature. The piers have canted ends and festooned tops. A bronze plaque is positioned at the center of the bridge, and the War Memorial is listed separately.
