Description

9, 10, 11 Queensferry Street is a classical tenement building designed by James Gillespie Graham in 1823. It is four stories tall and has seven bays, with later timber and plate glass shop premises on the ground floor. The building features mid-19th century corniced and consoled detailing that has been added to the original architraved window openings. The exterior is made of painted sandstone ashlar and includes a banded cill course at the second and third floors, as well as a corniced eaves course.

The first-floor windows have architraved surrounds and consoled dentilled cornices, while the second and third-story windows also have architraved surrounds with bracketed cills and cornices. The attic features later dormers from the mid-19th century. The ground floor shop fronts are made of plate glass, with predominantly plate glass in timber sash and case windows on the first floor, and 4-pane timber sash and case windows on the second and third floors. The building has corniced ashlar gable end and ridge stacks, along with cast iron rainwater goods.
