Description

Todrick's Wynd, located at 56, 58, and 60 High Street in Edinburgh, is a four-storey and double-attic Scots Baronial corner tenement designed by Robert Morham between 1871 and 1873, adapting a design by David Cousin and John Lessels. This building is part of a cohesive group on the south side of High Street and the east side of Blackfriars Street. It features squared and snecked rubble with sandstone ashlar dressings, and has chamfered long and short window margins. The corner shop front is pilastered in timber.

On the High Street elevation, there is a tripartite window on the first floor to the left, and a single window set in a wide panel to the right. The fourth floor includes windows with a raised wallhead that rises to a gabletted attic on the left, and a gablet dormer head on the right. The elevation facing Blackfriars Street is symmetrical, featuring a central two-storey oriel window on the second and third floors. The crow-stepped gable spans the two left bays and has a broad wallhead stack at its apex, while a single dormerhead to the right includes double gablets within the roof pitch above.

The building predominantly has four-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows with horns. The roof is covered with grey Scottish slate, and it has broad end stacks, clay cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
