Office And East Range, Drybrough's Brewery, Duddingston Road West, Edinburgh

The Brewhouse Block at Drybrough's Brewery on Duddingston Road West in Edinburgh was relocated here in 1892 due to railway development in the area of the current Calton Road. The buildings were primarily designed and constructed by R Hamilton Paterson & Co, who were architects and engineers for brewers. The complex includes several ranges, with alterations such as blocked windows and additions.

Near the south end of the site is a tall, long gabled malt barn featuring loft dormers and axial ventilators in alternating bays. The top two floors served as barley lofts, while the lower level housed malt bins and steeps. To the east, there are two pyramidal-roofed kilns that are integral to the structure, built with snecked rock-faced ashlar and droved dressings, and featuring continuous cill bands at two levels. The roofs are slated, with distinctive ventilators on the kiln roofs.

To the north is the Brewhouse block, which is four stories high and partially roofless. It uses similar materials, although some sections have cast-iron lintels. The range to the east is not original; it is open at ground level with wide lintels on stone piers, and the top floor is framed construction with multi-paned glazed panels and a longitudinal roof ventilator.

Fronting Duddingston Road West is a block that is said to have originally been Blyth and Cameron's brewery, designed by Peter L Henderson in 1897. This long range features a symmetrical two-story office at the south end, constructed with similar materials including cast-iron lintels, but with contrasting red ashlar dressings. It showcases Scots Renaissance details, including a central doorcase to the office and iron-barred openings for the brewery. A tall red brick chimney stalk, heightened in yellow brick, is also present, while a low range at the north is built directly against the railway line.
