Description
23 Gilmore Place is an earlier 19th century house with later additions, designed in a plain classical style. It is a three-storey and attic, three-bay, L-plan structure that is part of a terrace. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar and features a band course above the ground floor and a cornice above the first floor.
On the north entrance elevation, there is a pilastered and corniced doorpiece located in the outer right bay, which includes a panelled timber door and a fanlight. To the left at ground level, there are single windows in the bays, while the upper floors have regular fenestration. The second floor has a blind window in the center. The roof features two late 19th century canted dormers that are linked by a slate mansard.
The windows are two-pane replacements. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes a coped gablehead stack and a stone skew to the west. The property has cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1997. The boundary walls consist of a coped, coursed wall along the street, topped with replacement wrought-iron railings.
