Description

Circa 1775; considerable subsequent alterations. 2, 3-storey and attic 3-bay former houses. Droved cream sandstone ashlar, rendered and painted to No 77; some timber dressings. Modern built-out shopfront unites both houses with doorway to upper offices at centre.

NO 77: early 20th century projection at 1st floor with paired pilasters framing large mullioned and transomed windows. 2nd floor windows with lugged architraves; cornice with balustraded parapet broken by pedimented wallhead dormers.

NO 79: lugged architraves to 1st floor windows; centre window with consoled pediment. Pair of large pilastered tripartite gabled dormers.

Timber sash and case windows; plate glass and 4-pane. Ashlar coped skews; stone stacks (rebuilt to E) ; grey slates.

INTERIOR: saloons to rear.
