Description

48 Greenbank Drive is a pair of semi-detached cottages designed by Robert Morham around 1900, featuring an asymmetrical Arts and Crafts style. The cottages are two stories tall and have barge-boarded gables. The ground floor is constructed of red glazed brick, while the upper floor is finished with white rendering. The gables are adorned with red octagonal tile-hanging. Architectural details include a base course, a stepped tiled course between the ground and first floors, and broad bracketed eaves.

On the west elevation, there are recessed porches at both the outer right and left, supported by brick piers at the corners, leading to glazed timber panelled doors. A projecting gabled bay, located second from the left, features a tripartite window on the ground floor and a bipartite window on the first floor. Additionally, there is a pentice-roofed canted window in the second bay from the right, along with a tripartite window that has a gabled dormer head breaking the eaves above.

The north and south side elevations include a brick pier from the porch on the west side, a gabled bay with a single window above, and a single-storey section to the east.

The east (rear) elevation showcases two broad gabled bays with irregular fenestration, including glazed timber doors on the outer right and left.

The windows predominantly feature 4-pane glazing in the upper sashes, with plate glass in the lower sections, all set within timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with red tiles and decorated with terracotta ridge tiles. Corniced red brick stacks with circular cans and cast-iron downpipes complete the exterior.
