Description

67 Morningside is a double villa built around 1860, featuring two storeys and six bays with an asymmetrical gabled design and single-storey side wings. The structure is made of cream sandstone, with squared and snecked rubble and stugged and droved dressings. It has a base course, ashlar mullions, exposed rafters, and timber brackets.

The front elevation has M-gabled bays at the center, which include bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors set in rectangular projections, along with blank armorial shields at the gablehead. To the left, there is a gabled bay with a doorway flanked by a window, featuring a panelled door and a rectangular plate glass fanlight, and a single window above on the first floor. The outer left has a recessed bay with a curved bay that contains a single window and a conical lean-to roof in the re-entrant angle. To the right of the central bays, there is a recessed bay with a modern flat-roofed glazed entrance porch in the re-entrant angle, and a single window above on the first floor. The outer right also has a recessed bay. The single-storey service wings have replacement picture windows.

The north and south elevations are gabled with apex stacks and side wings at the ground floor, featuring small windows at the gableheads. The villa has 8-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof with lead flashings, two apex stacks, and one central stack, along with a moulded eaves gutter and gutterheads.

The interior was not seen in 1992. The property is enclosed by a tall rubble wall with semi-circular coping at the rear and sides, and a low wall at the front that rises on sloping ground to the south. There is a square coped ashlar gatepost to the outer left, along with later gates and railings.
