Description
Henry Hardy, 1876. Rectangular-plan plain Gothic church. Yellow colliery brick with red brick banding and arch heads. Broad gables; brick buttresses; pointed arched openings.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: symmetrical; lean-to porch with gabletted pointed arched doorway at centre; 2-leaf boarded door; blocked tympanum; paired windows flanking doorway; single windows flanking porch; 3 lancet windows above (central pancet taller). 2 pyramid capped buttresses breaking eaves.
W ELEVATION: 6-bay. Gabletted lancet windows with paired single windows below in bays 2-4. Similarly detailed lancet window in 5th bay with bell above and small side porch below. Paired windows in 1st bay. 6th bay obscurred.
E ELEVATION: bays 1-5 detailed as W elevation, except modern flat roofed addition adjoining at ground in bays 3-5. Pitched roof link between church and hall in 6th bay.
S (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen (1992).
CHURCH HALL: single storey pitched roof. 3 lancet windows to gabled N elevation. 4 segmental-arched windows to E elevation. W elevation obscured by modern flat-roofed addition. S (rear) elevation not seen (1992).
Grey slate roof with yellow ridging; block skewputts.
INTERIOR: not seen 1992.
