Description

7 Links Gardens in Leith, Edinburgh, is a terrace of four paired classical houses built between 1801 and 1807. The buildings are three stories high, with a basement and attic, constructed from cream sandstone. The ground floor features polished ashlar, while the upper levels are made of stugged ashlar with polished dressings. The rear and sides are finished in coursed and squared rubble. A band course runs above the basement, and the ground floor is rusticated. The eaves cornice is dentilled with a blocking course.

The southwest elevation facing Links Gardens has 12 bays, consisting of two pairs of three-bay houses that mirror each other around the center. The doorways, accessed by steps, are located in the center bays and feature panelled doors (except for No 7) with plate glass fanlights above. The remaining bays have single windows. Nos 6, 8, and 9 have canted dormers, while No 7 boasts a full set of ornate iron balconies.

The southeast elevation facing Links Gardens Lane is gabled with an ashlar apex stack and has single windows. The northeast rear elevation also features single windows, with No 9 including a secondary door and a later forestair. This elevation has a tripartite window and a raised wallhead with a broad-shouldered wallhead stack to the left, as well as two altered tripartite dormers.

The windows throughout are timber sash and case, with plate glass glazing on the front and 12- and 4-pane configurations on the rear and sides. The roof is slate, featuring an apex and wallhead stack, mutual stacks, and rooflights. Recessed downpipes are present.

Inside, there is a fan-vaulted vestibule in Nos 6 and 7. The property is enclosed by a low rubble wall with iron railings, and No 7 has a decorative lamp bracket with a basket. To the left, there is a corniced ashlar pier and a coped wall.
