25, 26, 27 Greenside Place, 24A, Edinburgh

23-24 Greenside Place in Edinburgh is a symmetrical tenement block designed by John Baxter around 1798. The building is four stories tall with an attic, and five stories and an attic at the rear, featuring an eight-bay elevation. The ground floor has later shops that extend out. The structure is made of droved ashlar, which consists of coursed squared rubble with dressed margins at the rear. It includes a cill course on the second and third floors, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. There are panelled giant pilasters at the outer left and right sides, and the fenestration is regular.

On the west (principal) elevation, there is a two-storey extension with a pilastered timber elevation on the left and a single-storey extension with round-arched openings on the right. The roof features canted dormers.

The east (rear) elevation is five stories tall with an attic and has a seven-bay layout. It includes tripartite windows on the first floor and dormers on the roof.

The building predominantly features 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The dormers have grey slate haffits and roofs, with the left dormer having a piended roof and the right a conical roof. There are two rooflights on the west elevation. The main roof is pitched and covered with graded grey slates, with stone skews and skewputts. The building has corniced rendered stacks with circular cans, a gablehead stack on the north and south sides, a ridge stack at the center, and two wallhead stacks at the rear.
