22 Claremont Crescent, Edinburgh

22 Claremont Crescent is a classical corner tenement building designed by William Burn, constructed between 1823 and 1852. It is a three-storey and basement structure with five bays, located at the end of a lower crescent. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar featuring channelled rustication at the ground level. It has a base course, a band course between the ground and first floors, and architraved windows on the first floor with recessed cills. There is a cill band at the second floor, along with a cornice and blocking course. The entrance includes ashlar steps and platts that extend over the basement.

On the principal (south) elevation, there is a timber panelled door with a fanlight at the center, flanked by windows with regular fenestration above, and taller windows on the first floor. The east elevation facing East Claremont Street has three bays, featuring a timber panelled door at the center with a blocked fanlight, and windows on each floor above, with the outer bays blinded for symmetry.

The building has timber sash and case windows with four-pane and plate glass glazing, a roof covered with grey slates, gablehead stacks with terracotta cans, and cast-iron railings topped with fleur-de-lys finials. The interior was not seen in 1998.
