2 Bath Place, Portobello, Edinburgh

3 Bath Place in Portobello, Edinburgh, is a single-storey terrace of four houses, built in the later 18th century and early 19th century, with some later alterations and additions. The group consists of three-bay houses that continue to the northwest with Nos 16-18 on the Promenade. The front elevations are rendered, while the southeast elevation of No 1 is harled, featuring a base course.

On the northeast elevation facing Bath Place, each house has a door in the center bay and windows in the flanking bays. No 1 has polished architraves, No 2 features timber margins on its windows, No 3 has a trellis porch with an ornamental lintel above the window margins, and No 4 includes a dentilled string course and blocking course, along with a raised and advanced doorpiece supported by plain Doric columns.

The southwest elevation shows various additions to each house, including a recent two-storey addition to the center of No 2. The windows vary: No 3 has timber four-pane sash and case windows, No 1 has aluminium plate glass windows, No 2 has uPVC plate glass windows, and No 4 features timber plate glass windows with a hinged upper pane. The roofs differ as well, with No 1 having a red pantiled roof and Nos 2, 3, and 4 having slate roofs on the front elevations (with red pantile on the rear of No 3). No 4 also has piended dormers, a two-pane raised skylight at the rear, and modern single-pane skylights on the lean-to addition at the center rear. Coped skews are present between each house, with mutual stacks that are either rendered or brick.

The interiors were not seen during the last inspection in 1994. The boundary walls include a harled rear wall to No 3 and an original sandstone rubble wall with a gateway.
