Description
Ellary House in Ellary is a building constructed in 1871 by David Bryce and rebuilt in the 1890s by Sir Robert Lorimer, showcasing a Scottish architectural style. The house features two storeys and an attic, with harled walls and stone dressings, and slate roofs that include gabled dormers on the sides. Notable architectural elements include crow-steps and a battlemented square tower, which has a moulded entrance. Above the entrance is a panel displaying the crest and the date '1871'. There are also one-storey additions to the structure.
Inside, the house boasts wainscotting and moulded plaster ceilings in the stair hall and drawing room. A bedroom features an ornamental plaster combed ceiling with a round concave decorative centre.
