Description
A pair of traditional cottages, built probably in the late 18th or early 19th century, forming part of the original crofting settlement near Taynuilt. The cottages are situated in a north-facing position, set within an L-shaped layout at the southeastern end of the group. Each cottage has three bays, with a door positioned centrally or near the centre. The cottage closest to the north has a small, modern porch, is shorter than the adjoining cottage, and is set at a slightly lower level. A corrugated-iron roof now replaces the original thatched roof, but remains continuous. The walls are whitewashed rubble, with common end and centre chimney stacks. The cottages feature boarded doors and four-pane sash windows, with additional windows at the rear.
The northernmost cottage may have been built after its neighbour, or may be partially rebuilt on an older structure. A near-vertical section of wall is visible on the northern cottage, while the rear wall of the southern cottage shows a pronounced batter. The cottages are designated as a group with other listed cottages at Ichrachan.
