Description
A pair of traditional cottages, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, form part of the original crofting settlement at Inchrachan. They are situated facing north and are arranged in an L-shaped layout at the southeastern end of a group of cottages. Each cottage has three bays with a central or near-central door. The cottage closest to the north has been extended with a small, modern porch. It is shorter than the adjoining cottage and set on a slightly lower level, although both now have a continuous corrugated-iron roof, replacing the original thatch. The walls are whitewashed rubble with shared end and central chimney stacks. The cottages feature boarded doors and four-pane sash windows, with additional windows at the rear. It is possible that the northern cottage was built after its neighbour, or partially rebuilt upon an older structure, as the interior wall of the earlier cottage is vertical, while the rear wall of the later cottage has a noticeable batter. The cottages are part of a group of listed buildings at Inchrachan.
