Description
This is a traditional Dalriadic-type cottage, likely dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, and forming part of the original crofting settlement at Ichrachan. The cottage sits on the southwest corner of the settlement, facing south and set below the road, and is part of a formal open-square layout. Other buildings in the square have undergone significant alteration.
The walls are whitewashed rubble, with corrugated iron replacing the original thatched roof. The front of the cottage has three bays, with a central boarded door and four-pane sash windows. An end stack remains on the east side, above a corrugated iron lean-to. A similar range extends from the west side, built on a whitewashed rubble base with timber and corrugated iron above.
The rear of the cottage features three windows, all with four panes; two are sash and case windows.
The cottage is part of a group of listed cottages at Ichrachan and is located near the roadside at the west end of the township.
