Description
Kilberry Castle is a Scots Baronial style building that was rebuilt in 1844 by architect Thomas Brown, with extensions added in 1873 by Kinnear of Edinburgh. The main block is L-shaped, featuring two storeys, an attic, and a basement. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has gabled slate roofs. The design includes crow-steps, mock angle-turrets topped with conical stone roofs, and a tower located in the re-entrant angle with a conical slate roof. The entrance is moulded and round-headed, featuring one stone with the initials "A.C." and the date "1497," and another stone with the initial "J.C." and the date "1884." The rear extensions include gabled dormers, a bay window, and a panel displaying the date "1873." Inside, there are notable marble fireplaces and decorative plasterwork.
