Description
Cour House is a large and notable Arts and Crafts house built between 1921 and 1922, designed by architect Oliver Hill. It features an English Mediaeval style and is two storeys high. The walls and chimneys are made of whinstone rubble, and the roof is covered with Purbeck stone slates. The house has steel casement windows and a roughly symmetrical entrance front, which is flanked by round towers and short wings. The entrance leads to a lobby that opens into a large Hall. To the east of the Hall is a Library, and there is a long rear wing to the west. A terrace is located in the re-entrant angle of the building.
