Description

This is an 1837 farmhouse and farmsteading built in a plain classical style. The farmhouse is symmetrical, comprising two storeys and three bays, with a single-storey, three-bay wing extending to the outer left and a single-storey, two-bay wing recessed to the outer right. The front of the farmhouse is constructed from harl-pointed random rubble sandstone with painted margins, while the rear is of whitewashed rubble. Polished strip quoins are present, along with stugged rubble sandstone quoins and surrounds to the openings, featuring projecting cills. A courtyard of single-storey, whitewashed rubble outbuildings is located at the rear.

The north (entrance) elevation features steps leading to a timber panelled door, centrally positioned at ground level, with a tripartite fanlight above. The year "1837" is inscribed in the lintel above the door, and a single window is aligned at the first floor. Single windows are present at both floors, flanking the entrance, and in all bays of the outer left and right wings.

The south (rear) elevation has a large stair window at the centre and a replacement door offset to the right at ground level. Single windows are visible at both floors in the outer left and right bays. A single opening is set in the single-storey wing to the right, with a piended dormer positioned above, and another opening in the single-storey wing to the left.

The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, with an original multi-paned stair light. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring raised stone skews and replacement rainwater goods. Corniced stone stacks are located on the east side while a coped, rendered stack is on the west side, both with various circular cans.

The interior was not inspected in 1996.

The west range has a single window in the outer right bay, and door openings in the two bays to the left, with a lean-to addition obscuring the outer left bay. The south range features a lean-to addition obscuring the outer right bay, a large, square-headed opening offset to the right of centre, and sliding doors to large openings in the two bays to the left. The east range has a timber door in the outer left bay and small, rectangular window openings in the two bays to the right. The outbuildings have predominantly timber casement glazing, some skylights, graded grey slate roofs, some clay-tile ridging, raised stone skews and replacement rainwater goods.

A rubble coped, whitewashed rubble wall encloses the site to the north and east. Square-plan, coursed, painted gatepiers with pyramidal caps support a wrought-iron pedestrian entry gate.
