Description
Kilfinichen Church, located in Kilfinichen Bay on the Isle of Mull, was built in 1804 and underwent repairs in 1828. It was later altered and converted into a residential dwelling in 1998. This former parish church features a gabled Gothic design with a transept on the south side and an additional structure on the east gable that now serves as part of the house. The building is constructed of rubble and includes a bird-cage belfry on the west gable, which has moulded columns, a stepped cap, and a ball-finial at the apex. There are pointed windows with Y tracery and leaded stained glass, three on each side, adorned with thistle motifs on the south elevation. The roof is covered with slate, and there is a chimney addition on the south pitch. The conversion to a dwelling house included later timber shutters and bargeboards.
Inside, the church features exposed rubble walls. The interior has been remodelled for residential use, including a staircase with timber bannisters and balustrades leading to the upper floor. A rubble chimneypiece has been inserted into the west gable wall.
The boundary walls consist of a rectangular plan extending to the shoreline, featuring a low rubble wall with rubble piers connected by wrought-iron railings.
