Description
Kilcalmonell Free Church in Clachan is a Victorian building from 1878, designed in an 'Oriental' style. It has an oblong shape and is constructed of stugged ashlar with a gabled slate roof. A striking feature is the wooden belfry, which resembles a pagoda and has a low-pitched roof. The church also features a heavy fretworked barge-board and an ornamental timber canopy above the entrance door. The round-headed windows have moulded margins, and there is a piended extension at the rear. Inside, the church boasts an open roof supported by heavy segmental trusses.
