Description
Haughs Of Cossans is a later 19th century farmhouse featuring a single storey and attic with a three-bay multi-gabled design. The building is constructed from squared and snecked rubble, accented with dressed ashlar quoins and a base course. It has a roll-moulded doorway, fluted cills, and stop-chamfered arrises.
On the south elevation, the central bay has a small gabled porch with a panelled timber door, a pendant finial, and a small window to the right. There is a window in the bay to the right and additional gabled dormer windows above that break the eaves. To the left of the centre, an advanced gabled bay features a canted quadripartite window at ground level and another window in the gablehead.
The west elevation showcases a large M-gable to the right of centre, which includes three windows on each floor. A lower wing to the left has two windows on each floor, with the gabled dormers breaking the eaves. The east elevation presents a variety of elements, including a steeply-pitched gable to the left of centre and a single storey wing to the right.
The windows primarily feature 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case designs, with plate glass glazing in hardwood windows on the south centre and right bays, as well as the east elevation. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are tall, coped ashlar stacks with can dividers, some of which are shouldered. The building also has plain bargeboarding and deeply overhanging eaves.
