Description

The stables at Stracathro House are a 2-storey building constructed from ashlar stone, featuring a very low first floor with a quadrangular plan, which has been later roofed quadrangularly. The south front includes a central arched gateway, flanked by channelled coupled antae and adorned with a triglyph frieze. The ends of the building are highlighted by pedimented features, and there is an octagonal doocot tower located at the center of the north front. The architect of this structure is Archibald Simpson, and it was built around 1827 or shortly thereafter.
