Description
Upper North Water Bridge is a 3-span, ribbed segmental arched bridge that crosses the North Esk River near Bridgend. It dates back to the 16th century and underwent repairs in 1669. The bridge was further repaired and widened in 1841-42 by engineer John Gibb. It is built from squared and coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The intrados features 5 square ribs of dressed stone. The bridge also has triangular cutwaters, and the parapet is equipped with railings.
