Description
Inglismaldie Castle is a 17th-century L-plan turreted tower house that stands three storeys tall with an attic, originally dated to 1636. The lower parts may be older. A long three-storey west wing with a northwest angle turret was likely added in the later 17th century, filling the re-entrant angle at the northwest. A two-storey southeast wing with a piended roof was added in the mid-18th century. The original west addition has been demolished, and a new two-storey west wing with dormer heads on the west flank has been constructed. The turret tops have been restored and are now higher than the original, and a new front door has been added. The southeast wing has been re-roofed with crow-stepped gables. There is also a two- to three-storey building linking to the old tower house. James Matthews from Aberdeen made further alterations in 1882, which included changes to the southeast wing, the addition of a circular southwest tower, a south crow-stepped gable, a corbelled chimney, and an eastern addition.
