Description
The service wing at Over Finlarg Farmhouse dates from around 1800 and is a two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan farmhouse that has been modified into a T-plan by the addition of a single-storey service wing at the rear. The building features rubble masonry with margined and stugged ashlar dressings, smooth rendering on the east gable, and a grey slate roof. It retains mostly original 12-pane sash and case windows, sawtooth skews, end stacks, and a rooflight on the north pitch.
The southeast elevation is symmetrical, with a central door featuring a three-pane fanlight, which is obscured by a modern glazed and slated porch. There are windows in the left and right bays, and three windows on the first floor. The east gable has one window on both the ground and first floors, located on the left side. The west gable also has two windows, symmetrically placed on the ground and first floors.
On the northeast elevation, there is a window on the ground and first floors of the main house on the left, and a modern window on the ground floor to the right. At the center, there is a projection with a slightly lower, later bay on the north side, along with various doors and windows on the left and right return elevations.
Inside, the service wing features some moulded cornices, original chimneypieces, doors, and shutters.
