Description
Balnamoon House is an irregular three-storey classical building constructed between 1820 and 1826. The main section features a seven-window centre portion, with a two-window section on the west and a one-window section on the east, both of which were added in 1825-1826 and are slightly advanced. A Roman Doric porch was added around 1860, replacing the original horseshoe staircase and Roman Doric columns at the first floor. The building is stuccoed, and the first-floor windows have architraves. The northwest wing is a two-storey, three-window section that is harled with margins and dates from the 17th and 18th centuries in its current form, although it incorporates lower masonry from an earlier date, with the first house on this site dating back to around 1490. Notably, there is a splendid Renaissance panel from around 1630-1640 located at the second floor.
