3 New Road, Forfar

3 New Road in Forfar is an 18th-century end of terrace house that has seen later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey building with an irregular three-bay layout, constructed from harl-pointed rubble and featuring painted squared dressings. The southwest elevation has an off-centre door in a 1930s panelled style, with a window above it and another window to the right at ground level. There are also windows on each floor in the bay to the left, indicating some changes in the positioning of openings over time. The southeast end gable has two widely spaced and irregular windows on the first floor, located above a lean-to addition at ground level, and there is a brick-blocked former attic light or ventilator. The rear elevation is mostly blank.

The house features timber sash and case windows and is topped with stone slates. The northwest gable has a coped skew with a cavetto skewputt, and there are red brick gablehead stacks.

The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls at the front, which have semi-circular coping on the lower sections and saddleback coping on the taller sections.
