Description
The viaduct over Cowie Water at Ury House was likely built in 1855. It features three arches that support a road over the river. The structure is made of squared and coursed rubble, with bull-faced stone used for the piers, parapets, and voussoirs. There are ashlar band courses and moulded droved coping along the top. The design includes polygonal pilasters and two-stage saw-tooth coped buttresses. The broad segmental arches spring from the piers, which have rounded outer faces that extend into polygonal pilasters and refuges. The approaches to the viaduct are curved, with polygonal outer piers.
