Description
Templeland is a two-story former mansionhouse constructed in several phases. The southern portion dates from the mid-18th century, characterised by skewputs. A large central bow containing a staircase was added later. Located at right angles is a three-window north-western wing, built slightly later, with a one-window, piend-roofed link in the angle. Two single-story gabled outshots are positioned at the rear, forming a court. A single-story laundry wing on the north-eastern side completes the court.
The building is harled and has a simple, vernacular, picturesque appearance, distinguished by a lack of margins. A nearby walled garden includes a good slate sundial from 1847 that is now damaged. Reference is made to the New Statistical Account, volume 12, page 601.
