Description
Kinaldie is a house with a complex history, originating as a single-storey and basement structure built around 1800. It originally featured two canted bays on the east side and two semi-circular bays on the west. Around 1835, the south part of the house was demolished, and a single-storey and basement house was constructed at a right angle to the original section. This later addition has a four-window front and a central tetrastyle Roman Doric pedimented portico. The end bays are slightly advanced. The basement is constructed of bullfaced stone, while the remainder of the walls are harled with margins. Around 1880, an upper floor was added, and a broad eaved roof was installed. The interior includes a simple layout with a domed circular central hall dating to the 1835 period. Details of the 1835 work suggest the involvement of John Smith.
